Bali ATM Guide for Digital Nomads (2026)
Use bank-branded ATMs, withdraw in fewer larger trips, decline dynamic currency conversion, and do not rely on Mandiri as a cheap fallback after its 2026 foreign-card access-fee notice.
Current Bali ATM fee records
| Bank | Fee | Max / tx | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Permata | Rp 0 | Rp 2.000.000 | Variable by machine. Treat as a candidate to test, not a guaranteed free withdrawal. |
| BCA | Rp 30.000 | Rp 3.000.000 | Public guides vary between IDR 25,000 and IDR 30,000. Confirm the on-screen fee before accepting. |
| BNI | Rp 30.000 | Rp 2.000.000 | Stored as IDR 30,000 midpoint because public guide reports a range. Confirm on-screen before accepting. |
| Mandiri | Rp 50.000 | Rp 2.500.000 | Official fee. Older Bali travel guides still show Mandiri at IDR 25,000-40,000; use the 2026 access-fee notice. |
The safe withdrawal routine
- Use a bank branch, mall, or grocery-store ATM.
- Check the card slot and keypad before inserting your card.
- Withdraw the largest amount you are comfortable carrying.
- When offered a conversion, choose IDR and decline the ATM conversion.
- Keep the receipt until the card transaction settles.
Then model your pattern in the ATM fee calculator. If you pull cash often, your card choice changes. If most spend is cardable, cashback matters more.
Bali cash is unavoidable. The goal is to make it measured, not mysterious.
